I know it sounds silly, but a new workout outfit or a pair of running shoes can sometimes be the thing that gets me motivated to get back to the gym. Working out isn’t always an easy thing to do so I need all the motivation I can get. Recently I’ve been working hard to eat healthy and trying to keep to a regular workout routine… Let me just tell you I love treats, and chocolate is my weakness, so this has been hard for me. But I have found the key is to track everything I eat (my favorite app is My Fitness Pal) and to meal prep. At lunch  and dinner time it was so easy for me to start snacking on everything in the kitchen and not realize how fast calories were adding up, so by meal prepping the snacking went away. Every Sunday I set aside time to cook chicken and rice and then I put it in plastic bags and put them in the freezer. Then when it’s time for lunch or dinner I pull one out, warm it up and add a dark green veggie with it like broccoli, spinach, or asparagus. That way if I am in a hurry it is fast and ready to go. I am trying to change my mindset to “eat to live” rather than “live to eat”… I am still a normal human being though and on the weekends I’ll get an ice cream with my friends. But I’m trying to control my portions now. Along with controlling what I eat I am attending the gym regularly. In the past I have only done cardio when I went to the gym, I am learning it is also important to get weight training in. So I focus on a different muscle group each day and on Wednesday’s and Saturday’s I do a HIIT workout routine, they are killer.
